21 December 2014 - Sikhs In The City - Dawn to Dusk Ultra (Sunlight) Running Series
More than a hundred people from all over Britain took on the challenge of the 2nd Sikhs In The City Dawn to Dusk races on Sunday 21 December. Starting at sunrise (8:04am) and finishing at sunset (3:54pm) sixty five competed against the clock to finish 22km run, a full marathon with twenty six (nine of whom were women) covering a minimum of 50km. Colin Lewin was the overall winner and one of three men completing over 78km with Shona Bendix on her birthday winning the women’s category with just over 66km within the time limit. The marathon winners were Jas Sanghera (3h 4m 12s) for men and Maureen Crispi (4h 1m 42s) for women. The 22km race winners were Patrick Brown (1h 23m 41s) and Mandy Bansal (1h 59m 20s). Steven Glanville won the 10km race in a time of 41m 42s and Susan McDowell in 52m 32s respectively.
Tinman Alliaj flew over from Canada to take part in the event which also had local girl Vanessa Brewster who was completing her 158th marathon or longer race – Vanessa represented the 100 Marathon Club. The race was started by Fauja Singh, the world’s oldest marathoner..
Gary Donald won the wheelchair category and Louise Simpson completed her second ultra – guided for the second time by Harmander Singh.
All finishers received an event T-shirt and SITC designed medals with the top three men and women in each race were presented with commemorative place medals as well as technical t-shirts from Fitness First (Ilford).
SITC would like to thank al of its supporters and volunteers on the day who put in so much effort that every participant seemed to praise the organisation of the race. SITC will be making a donation to a local charity as a thank you for their help.

Teams of three to completed 21 laps of our (2014m) measured course between them after starting together – top three placings determined by fastest combined time for 21 laps were:
1. Manjit Singh, Kanwaljit Singh, Amritpal Singh - 1 hour 19 minutes and 43 seconds
2. Baldev Singh, Jaswinder Kaur, Narinder Singh, Parminder Kaur - 1 hour 48 minutes and 25 seconds (mainly walkers).
3. Satwinder Singh, Michelle Murphy, Sukhjinder Singh (pulled out after two laps) - 1 hour 57 minutes and 21 seconds.

Amritpal Singh ran 23 minutes and 51 seconds for 5km.
Baldev Singh a 63 year old was injured but still managed to do the half in under 2 hours 2 minutes.
Kanwaljit Singh followed Harmander every step until 19km and then did the half in 2 hour 7 minutes.
Anupe Singh Dhanday did his first marathon in 5 hours 5 minutes

Nachhatar Kaur-Singh (Mami Ji), Raj Shinhmar and Michelle Murphy ran the half marathon in 3 hours 32 mins, 2 hours 28 mins and 2 hours 11 minutes respectively.
Nirmal Singh, Lakvinder Singh and Harmander Singh completed the full marathon in 6 hours 1 min, 5 hours 22 mins and 4 hours 53 mins respectively.
3 February – Watford Marathon

Sikhs In The City ran their second New Year Race on 2nd January 2011 encouraged by Her Majesty's Christmas message to take part in sporting activities as we get closer to the London Olympics next year.
Braving the dark and cold January morning, starting the Marathon at 6:50am, the 10km at 8:00am and the Half Marathon Plus (22km) at 10:00am, the following 35 souls from five different faiths (11 of whom were women) and some as young as 9 years old took on the challenge of a tough 2012m course and produced the finishing times below.
